ContentsBridge Utility

ContentsBridge Utility is a tool for printing PDF, TIFF, JPEG, XPS, and DocuWorks file without using the installed print driver. Printing with this tool is simpler and more direct compared to printing via a print driver as it allows files to be printed directly.

Required Applications

The following applications must be installed before Word, Excel® and PowerPoint® files can be printed:

2007 Microsoft® Office Add-in: Microsoft Save as PDF or XPS can be downloaded from the Microsoft website.

The following applications must be installed before DocuWorks files can be printed:

Note
The print settings cannot be changed when printing DocuWorks files. Also, [TCP Ports] cannot be selected to print DocuWorks files. DocuWorks files will be printed using the default settings of a printer.

Printable file format

The printable file formats of ContentsBridge Utility are as follows:

    Installation

    This section explains how to install ContentsBridge Utility in the selected computer.

    Important
    Log in as Administrator.
    Note
    End all running programs before installation.

    1. Double-click [Install ContentsBridge] on the [User Tools] tab of the Driver CD Kit installation menu screen.
    2. The ContentsBridge Utility installer is activated and the [Welcome to the InstallShield Wizard for Fuji Xerox ContentsBridge Utility] screen is displayed.

    3. Click [Next].
    4. The [License Agreement] screen is displayed.

    5. Check the contents and click [Yes].
    6. The [Select Features] screen is displayed.

    7. Specify the feature to support and click [Next].
    8. The [Choose Destination Location] screen is displayed.

      Note
    9. Selecting [Job Ticket Support] allows you to change print settings that use job tickets.
    10. Selecting [XPS Document Support] allows you to print XPS documents.
    11. Selecting [Booklet Print] allows you to print the document as a booklet. by layering the paper sheets on top of each other and folding them in half when outputting.
    12. For the models that support job tickets and XPS documents, refer to "Software License Agreement" for this tool under "Readme".
    13. Specify the folder to install and click [Next].
    14. The [Start Copying Files] screen is displayed.

    15. Check the installation settings and click [Next].
    16. Installation begins and the [Setup Status] screen is displayed.
      After installation has been completed, the [InstallShield Wizard Complete] screen is displayed.

    17. Click [Finish].
    18. The ContentsBridge Utility shortcut icon is created on the desktop.

    Upgrade

    This section explains how to install ContentsBridge Utility 7 in the selected computer where ContentsBridge Utility 4 / 5 / 6 has been installed.

    Important

    1. Double-click [Install ContentsBridge Utility] on the [User Tools] tab of the Driver CD Kit installation menu screen.
    2. The ContentsBridge Utility installer is activated and the screen to confirm an upgrade is displayed.

    3. Click [Yes].
    4. The screen to confirm resuming the InstallShield Wizard is displayed.

    5. Click [Next].
    6. Installation begins and the [Setup Status] screen is displayed.
      After installation has been completed, the [InstallShield Wizard Complete] screen is displayed.

    7. Click [Finish].
    8. The ContentsBridge Utility shortcut icon is created on the desktop.

    Uninstallation

    This section explains how to uninstall the installed ContentsBridge Utility from the selected computer.

    Important
    Log in as Administrator.

    1. Start up [Add/Remove Programs] from Control Panel.
    2. Select [Fuji Xerox ContentsBridge Utility] from [Currently installed programs] and click [Change/Remove].
    3. The screen for confirming the installation method is displayed.

    4. Select [Remove] and click [Next].
    5. The [Confirm Uninstall] screen is displayed.

    6. Click [OK].
    7. Uninstallation begins and the [Setup Status] screen is displayed.
      After uninstallation has been completed, the [Uninstall Complete] screen is displayed.

    8. Click [Finish].

    Printing

    This section explains how to print using ContentsBridge Utility. There are two different methods for starting up ContentsBridge Utility.

    Starting up via the desktop icon

    1. Double-click the [ContentsBridge] icon created on the desktop.
    2. ContentsBridge Utility is activated.

    3. Specify the file to be printed in [File to Print].
    4. Specify the file name using the full path format. Specify the URL for an internet file. You can click the [Add] button, the [Specify Folder] button or the [Specify File Name] button, and select the path from the displayed dialog box or drag and drop the file into the [File to Print] column.

    5. Specify the output printer or port.
    6. When using a printer installed in the selected computer
      Printers installed on the selected computer will be displayed when [Printer] is selected. Select the printer required from the pull-down list.

      When specifying a printer port
      Direct printing to the printer port can be specified if [TCP Port] is selected. If a port is already registered, it can be selected from the pull-down list. To add a new port or edit an existing port, click the [Port Setup] button. Then click [Add] or [Edit] to set up the port to be registered. The settings are as follows:

      Important
      Log in as Administrator to add or edit a printer port.
      TCP Port Name
      Enter a port name displayed in the pull-down list. Up to 32 single-byte characters can be entered.
      Host Name or IP Address
      Enter the host name or IP address.
      Printer URL
      Specify the printer URL (IPP port address).
      Port Number
      Enter the port number if [Raw Port] is selected.
      Queue Name
      Enter the queue name if [LPR] is selected.
      Timeout
      Specify the timeout period when the printer is sending data.
      Protocol radio button
      Specify a protocol from LPR, Raw Port (Port9100) or IPP Port.

    7. Set the print settings to print PDF, TIFF, JPEG, and XPS files.

      • Use Job Ticket (PDF file / XPS file)
      • Specify Job Ticket file (PDF file / XPS file)
      For more information, refer to "ContentsBridge Utility Print Settings".
      Note
      • The print settings cannot be changed when printing DocuWorks, PostScript or PRN files. These files will be printed using the default settings of a printer.
      • [TCP Port] cannot be selected for printing a DocuWorks file.

    9. After the setup, click [Print].
    10. Printing starts and ContentsBridge Utility ends automatically.

    Starting up by dragging and dropping a file on to the desktop icon

    1. Drag and drop the file to be printed on to the desktop icon.
    2. ContentsBridge Utility is activated.

      Important
    3. XPS files can only be printed on those machines which support XPS file printing.
    4. Depending on the models, the XPS option may be required.
    5. Note
      The file cannot be changed if it is already specified in the [File to Print] column.

      For the next procedure, refer to Steps 3 to 5 in "Starting up via the desktop icon".

      If [Do not display this dialog again.] is checked, the ContentsBridge Utility startup screen will not be displayed the next time when a file is dragged and dropped on to the desktop icon. Printing will be performed based on the previous settings. To release this option, double-click the desktop icon to activate ContentsBridge Utility.
