 1. Features
 ===========================================
This software is the TWAIN driver that acquires images from applications that support the TWAIN protocol. 
The TWAIN driver controls scanners that are connected by USB and Network.
It also corresponds to WIA (Windows Image Acquisition).

 1.1 Simple Mode
 ===========================================
By customizing the scan settings or button titles, the simple scan jobs can be performed conveniently.
The following five scan buttons are set in advance, and you can change the settings as you like:
  Scan Photograph / Scan Magazine / Scan for OCR / Scan for Internet / Customize

On Advanced Mode, the settings such as color mode, resolution, scan area and color adjustment can be configured.
For detailed information, please refer to the scanner driver help file.

 2. System Requirements

 The ScannerDriver can run on the following OS:

 3. Notes
 ===============================================

1) Please log on as administrator to install or uninstall the scanner driver.

2) Before performing scan jobs on your computer, please set the status of MFP to remote PC mode on device panel.

3) On Windows 2008 Server, the WIA service is not installed as default. Please refer to the following procedure to install the WIA service before using the scanner driver:
 
  1. Click the [start] button and point to [Control Panel].
  2. Double-click [Programs and Features] then click [Turn Windows features on or off].
  3. In [Server Manager] panel, click [Features] then select [Add Feature].
  4. In [Add Features] panel, select [Desktop Experience] checkbox.
  5. Click [Next] button and the install process is over. (The computer will need restart.)
   
4) If you cannot use WIA to scan, please check whether the WIA service is started.
   How to start WIA service:
   Click the [Start] button and point to [Control Panel]
   Double-click [Administrative tools].
   Double-click [services] and start WIA service from [Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)].

5) In Windows Server 2008, the WIA service might be stopped by default. Please start the WIA service according to the following procedures when you use the WIA driver. 

  1. Double-click [Administrative Tools] in the [Control Panel]. 
  2. Double-click [Services].
  3. Open the properties of [Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)].
  4. Select [Automatic] at [Startup type]. 
  5. Click [Start] at [Service status]. Click [Apply], then click [OK].

6) In some applications, the settings don't display the scanner driver's user interface (such as [automatic scan], [the native interface is non-displayed] and so on). Please change the settings to display the scanner driver's user interface, then scan again. Refer to the application's manual for more information.

7) Due to the limitation of some applications, you may not be able to scan at a high resolution because of a memory shortage, hard disk size, etc. In that case, please scan again after setting the resolution to low or reducing the range of the selection.

8) For the TWAIN driver and the WIA driver, the options that can be set are different.

9) Please do not use the TWAIN driver or the WIA driver at the same time with the same or more applications.

10) Please use the TWAIN driver or WIA2.0 driver when you scan both sides of an original document. The WIA1.0 driver doesn't support a two sided scanning. 

11) When documents are scanned from the ADF (using the WIA driver), some pages may not be displayed. In that case, please use the TWAIN driver.

12) The [multi selections] function might not be able to be used (depending on the application) if two or more images cannot be received.

13) Please select the Twain driver from the [Scanner or camera] settings when scanning from Microsoft Office (e.g. Word and Excel, etc.). Please set and scan one original.

14) An original document cannot be scanned more than once from Microsoft Word97/Excel97 (PhotoEditor). Please set and scan one page of original.

15) When scanning using the WIA driver with Adobe Photoshop CS3, the scanning progress dialog will be displayed more times than the number of documents.

16) The [Scanning to local PC] function of the device needs [ActKey]. Please install [ActKey] in the computer before using the [Scanning to local PC] function. 

    For Windows Server 2008: In the scanner Properties, click the Events tab. In Actions, select [Take no action] and save. Then in the Events tab select [Start this program:], choose Actkey as the program to start and save the settings again.
